Return To The Tower

The Lokomo Sword

Once you're outside the Sand Temple, get on board the Spirit Train. Zelda will tell Anjean that she and Link have the Bow of Light and that they're ready to take down Malladus. However, Anjean cannot help them track down Malladus because he and Chancellor Cole have hidden the Demon Train too well. Byrne offers to help by telling them about the Compass of Light that was made to track down the Demon Train in the Dark Realm, and that the Compass of Light is hidden underneath the altar that was used to resurrect Malladus. That means they must return to the Tower of Spirits to find it. Before Link does, Anjean gives him a new weapon called the Lokomo Sword which is filled with sacred energy.

A Space-Time Gate

With the train rolling again, set a course for the nearest dead end. There's an archway at the dead end, only this one has a green Force Gem on top of it. Blast the Force Gem with your cannon, and it will turn yellow along with the archway. You are given some vague instructions as what to do next with it. As you approach the archway, blow the train whistle, and a portal will appear within the archway. When the train enters the portal, it will emerge from another archway near the western end of the Sand Realm. These archways are what Ferrus calls Space-Time Gates that allow instantaneous travel from one archway to another. Anyway, from the archway that you emerged out of, plot a course back to the Tower of Spirits.

Tower of Spirits

Once you return to the ground floor room of the Tower of Spirits, go back up to the winding staircase, and then travel up the staircase to where it ends, at the door that leads you to Floor 18. Step into the blue portal that's still active to go to Floor 23, then head upstairs through the chamber where you fought Byrne, and then go past it up the staircase to the altar. Near the altar are two golden eye switches which we need to hit with two Light Arrows. These will cause a hidden staircase to rise up that will allow us to access higher floors that we'll need to descend to reach our goal on our final visit here.

Floors 30 to 27

You won't find any Tears of Light on this floor or any floors between here and Floor 24, but we don't need to find them now because we have the Lokomo Sword, giving us power already to commandeer a Phantom for Zelda to take control of. We'll be going through these four floors repeatedly, as follows:

Floor 30: When we first enter this floor, the only thing we'll be able to access is the staircase north of our location, so let's head there and go to Floor 29.

Floor 29: This floor is dark and has no map for us to see anything but where the Phantoms are. From where you are, venture out a bit to the left to attract the attention of a Phantom at our left, then duck back into the Safe Zone to let it come close. When the Phantom turns its back toward us, strike it with the Sword so Zelda can possess its form. You can now take Zelda back with you to Floor 30.

Floor 30: Have Zelda cross the spikes in the door to the right and step on a floor button on the other side to disarm the spikes, letting Link join her where the lava pool is. Then with Zelda carrying Link with her shield, direct her so that Link will hit the switch orb at the south first, and then quickly to hit the switch orb at the north before the timer goes out. This can be done with planting a Bomb near the south orb and then getting close enough to the north orb so you can hit it with the Boomerang. Watch out for the movements of the Phantom in the lava pool while you do this, and also take out the Fire Keese that are flying around there. A door to the right of the lava pool will open if done correctly. Go through the door and down the staircase back to Floor 29.

Floor 29: From where you reenter this floor, go all the way left until you come across a stone tablet near a torch that says, "Sometimes darkness can open a path." Go around to all the areas you can reach in the area and use the Whirlwind to blow out the torches one by one, with the last being the one at the lower left of that area. The door next to that torch will open. Watch the Torch Phantom as it passes by you, then strike it in the back so Zelda can switch over to its form. Bring her back with you to Floor 30 the same way you came.

Floor 30: Ride across the lava pool over to where you first entered this floor, then take her to the north staircase to return to Floor 29.

Floor 29: From the Safe Zone, go as far south as you can, then go west with Zelda following close behind you until you come across a door with two torches that you need Zelda to light up. You may need to stun a Phantom in the hallway if you have to. The door will open, revealing a staircase that will take you down to Floor 28.

Floor 28: First have Link go alone to all the sand patches in the area he can access to slay all the Stalfos Warriors. Then direct Zelda to stand on the platform that's east of the staircase, then raise up sand blocks for Zelda to cross on top of from that platform to the one just north of that location so she can light up a torch. Raise up more sand blocks for her to cross from there to the platform on the left to light up the other torch. Two treasure chests will now appear, one to the southeast of the area we can access and one to the southwest. Now here comes the tricky part: after getting Link and Zelda back to the platform near the staircase, have Link stand on the one on top of the stairs so he can jump onto Zelda's shield, then raise up sand blocks for Zelda to carry him to the platform to the southeast where the treasure chest is so he can get there open it. From that chest you'll get a small key. (The other treasure chest will contain some random treasure.) Guide Zelda back to the platform near the staircase and go with her back up to Floor 29.

Floor 29: Go back east and then north to the Safe Zone where the staircase to Floor 30 is located.

Floor 30: Go back through the lava pool to the other staircase going down to Floor 29.

Floor 29: Head back to the door you've opened the last time you were in this section, then go west from there to an unlit torch to have Zelda light it up. Then go south until you're near a door to the left where another unlit torch is located and have Zelda light that one. Then go west to a third unlit torch, then west to a fourth unlit torch, then south and west to a fifth unlit torch. A stone tablet next to that one reads, "Look for two eyes in the dark. Shoot them with light to get the key." Now go south and east from there to light up a sixth unlit torch. One eye switch is guarded by a Warp Phantom that's northwest of the torch near the stone tablet. Distract it so that it can move away from the eye switch so Link can shoot at it with a Light Arrow. To make things easier, stun the Phantom and have Zelda possess its armor. This will cause a torch near an eye switch in a different location to be lit. Now head east from there, then north from the door with the torch near it, then east until you're back at the Safe Zone near the staircase going back to Floor 30.

Floor 30: Go back across the lava pool to the north staircase going down to Floor 29.

Floor 29: Go west from the Safe Zone until you're at the northwestern corner of the map, being careful of the Phantoms that patrol that area, then use a Bomb to blow up a hole in the wall. Past the hole is a passageway leading to a third staircase that will take you to another part of Floor 30.

Floor 30: Have Link stand on the sand patch and Zelda stand next to him so that Link can raise up a sand block and then jump onto Zelda's shield, then have her carry Link to the platform north of the sand patch so he can press the floor button there. This will make two Phantom Eyes and a Warp Phantom appear. Then have Link go south and stand on the metal platform with a circle on it, then warp Zelda to the room in the southwest corner with the Phantom Eye in it so she can stand on the other metal platform with a circle on it. They will both swap places with each other. Now warp Zelda back into the room Link is now in and have her go through the door to the north with the spikes barring it until she is standing on a metal platform with a triangle on it. Have Link stand on a similar platform across from Zelda so they can swap places again. Then have Link go north to lure the Phantom standing guard in front of a room to follow him into a sand patch. With the Phantom out of the way for a while, sneak into the room and shoot the golden eye switch with a Light Arrow. A door will open between the southwest and southeast sections of this floor. Bring Link back to the metal platform to switch places with Zelda again, then bring Zelda across the spiked door over to near a sand patch so Link can raise up a sand block to stand on and then jump onto Zelda's shield. Guide Zelda over into the southeast section until she is standing to the right of an arrow redirect in the middle of a chasm. Change the redirect's aim so that it's now aiming north, then fire a Light Arrow into it so that it hits a golden eye switch, causing a door to the right of you to open. Have Zelda follow you through the door and down the staircase back to Floor 29.

Floor 29: Go to the west, slay the rat that's running around, and, being careful not to be seen by the Wrecker Phantom, strike it in the back so that Zelda can now possess its form. Use the Boomerang to light up an unlit torch in this area of the floor. Two nearby doors will now open up. Now strike the other golden eye switch on this floor with a Light Arrow. A treasure chest will appear in the Safe Zone near the staircase you have just used. Open it to get a small key, then take Zelda with you back up to Floor 30.

Floor 30: Have Zelda knock down the Miniblin riding an Armos statue in the room, then have her knock down the blocks near the north wall. A treasure chest will be uncovered which contains another small key. Bring Zelda with you back down to Floor 29 again.

Floor 29: Go over to where you found the first golden eye switch on this floor and lure the Phantom guarding it into following you so that Zelda can stun it by rolling into it. Then strike it in the back so Zelda can possess its form again. Take her now as you go east and then south to a Safe Zone where the staircase that goes back down to Floor 28 is located.

Floor 28: There's three locked doors that we can now open from where we reentered this floor, each of which will take us to different parts of Floor 27. Open the door on the left first and take its staircase to the next floor down.

Floor 27: There's three golden eye switches that we need to hit on this floor with Light Arrows. First have Zelda warp over to the Phantom Eye that's just south of our location across a sand patch to take it out. There's a floor button there that we can press to make a bridge appear on the sand patch for Zelda to walk on. Now have Link stand on the sand patch and raise himself up on a sand block so he can jump onto Zelda's shield and he can be carried south and to the west where there's a post for whip-swinging to the left. Then go over to the floor switch in the lower left corner and press it to make a bridge appear across the chasm we just passed over. To the north of us is a sand patch; on the left side of that are two short platforms, and on the right is a long strip of a platform with a Warp Phantom and a Phantom Eye. Have Link go north across the sand patch alone to take out the Stalfos Warrior, then warp Zelda over to the Phantom Eye on the platform strip. You can raise up Link to that same platform while the Phantom's back is turned and then strike it for Zelda to possess that form. Anyway, wait for the Phantom Eye to reappear and to drift over to the south platform on the left, then have Zelda warp over to that platform. While she's there, direct her to pick up the arrow redirect. Then have Link stand at a high point on top of the staircase, first to change the arrow redirect's aim to the north, then to fire a Light Arrow into it so that it goes into the golden eye switch to the north. When you're done, warp Zelda to the Phantom Eye that's near the staircase to Floor 28, then have Link join with her so that you can go back up.

Floor 28: Go back to the staircase that goes to Floor 29 and this time on that floor have Zelda switch into a Torch Phantom form, then take her up again to this floor to go through the middle locked door to the staircase that goes down again to another part of Floor 27.

Floor 27: To the south of that staircase there are four torches. If you have went back to Floor 27 using the right locked door and Zelda in a Wrecker Phantom form, you would have come across a stone tablet with a riddle on it, telling you which torches you need to light up in which order. Anyway, since we're here at this part of the floor instead, direct Zelda to light up the northwest torch. Then use the Boomerang to strike that torch and then the southeast and northeast torches in that order. Finally, have Zelda go across the spikes to light up the southwest torch. A door to the west of our location will open. Go to that door and there fire a Light Arrow at the golden eye switch behind it. With that done, bring Zelda with you back up to Floor 28.

Floor 28: Return from here to Floor 29 to get Zelda into a Wrecker Phantom, then come back to this floor and open the right locked door and go down the third staircase to Floor 27.

Floor 27: Go south until you reach a short passageway going to the left. You'll see in the next hallway boulders that are rolling down. Have Zelda roll her way through the hallway and then go to the left and hit the switch orb to shut off the rolling boulders for Link to join her. Go left of the Safe Zone and then south to where's Armos statues and destructible blocks in between you and a Phantom Eye. Have Zelda break through the statues and blocks, which will now leave us open for the Phantom Eye to detect us. Quickly move Link back into the Safe Zone when the Phantom appears, then strike it in the back before it warps away so Zelda can now possess its form. Then bring Zelda back up to Floor 28 so you can reenter this floor through the left door staircase. From that reentry point, have Zelda warp over to the Phantom Eye that's in the east part of this floor that was hiding behind the blocks, then direct her over to the metal platform with the circle on it. Raise Link up on a sand block to the platform strip on the right, then jump down to the right from the platform strip, slay the Stalfos Warrior on the sand patch, and go over to the metal platform with the circle that's nearby. Link and Zelda will switch places with each other. Now direct Zelda so that she's standing on the floor button north of the metal platform. This will keep a door that a golden eye switch is hiding behind open. To shoot at it, we need to aim for the arrow redirect that's in the middle of the chasm on the right. A door will open in the middle hallway that will give us access to Floor 26. Warp Zelda over to where Link is now, then take her back up to Floor 28 and then return to Floor 27 through the middle door staircase. Don't worry about the Phantom Eye at this point; all it will do is try to slow you down. Go straight north to the staircase.

Floor 26

This floor's mostly battles; first with blue Electric Chuchus, then with Stalfos Warriors, then finally with Zora Warriors. You can take out the Electric Chuchus with the arrows now. Once the battles are complete, the staircase to Floor 25 will open at the upper right corner of the room.

Floor 25

This floor's got various types of Phantoms guarding the hallways and standing in the path of some big doors we need to get to to open. First start off by getting a Torch Phantom to control so that you can get Zelda to light up some torches in order to open up a door into the center room from the south. Then get Zelda into a Warp Phantom and knock out a Phantom Eye and blow it into a room in the upper left corner past a sand patch for Zelda to warp to so she and Link can press two floor buttons together, opening yet another door in the center room behind a stationary Phantom. Finally, have Zelda take over a Wrecker Phantom so that she can stun the Phantoms in the center room and destroy the Armos statues blocking our way to the big doors. Once we get to the big doors, have Link and Zelda push them together so that we can get to the staircase leading to Floor 24.

Floor 24

Our last journey through the Tower of Spirits is over! We have finally reached the floor where the treasure chest that contains the Compass of Light is located. Once you get it, it will cause a new track to appear in the Forest Realm that will take you to the Dark Realm. Now that we're ready, step into the blue portal that will take you back to the ground floor room of the Tower.

NEXT: The Dark Realm and the Demon Train.
